Born under the stars
StrapLights® started on a night hike with friends. Same problem every headlamp owner knows: the bouncing, the headaches, and the blinding glare every time you turn to talk.

The star on the StrapLights® logo is a nod to the Minneapolis Minnesota Mission, where our founder Joshua Cannon served his LDS mission. It reminds us that light is meant to be shared — on the trail, in the city, and everywhere in between.

The night that changed everything
We were out with friends, hiking under a clear sky, trying to enjoy the trail after dark. Instead, we were dealing with the pains that come with every headlamp: a headache from the strap, a beam that bounced with every step, and a light that blinded the person next to us whenever we turned our heads.
I knew there had to be a better way to experience the outdoors at night. The backpack we were already wearing was the perfect place for the light. Mounted on the shoulder straps, the beam sits at chest height, points where you're looking, and leaves your head and hands free.
That frustration turned into an idea, and that idea turned into StrapLights®.
Why we built it
Every hands-free light we tried lived on our heads. That meant a bouncing beam, pressure headaches on long days, and a habit of blinding whoever we were talking to. The pack we were already wearing was the obvious place to put the light instead.
Mounted on your shoulder straps, the beam sits at chest height and points exactly where you're heading. You get near-field and far-field visibility at once, nothing touching your head, and both hands free for the work in front of you.

IP44 sealing, silicone and ABS housings, and hardware that keeps working in rain and snow.
Runtime
Up to 10 hours per charge so a long shift or a long night never ends in the dark.

Motion-activated on/off and a red mode that protects night vision on shared trails.
